An interesting addition to a classical study, this elaborate hourglass rests in an oval casing carved with the shapes of dragon heads and wings on opposite sides. Supporting the case on a rod for easy turning are two pillars shaped like dragons, crouched down back to back, their horns flaring up high above their heads. The entire piece rests on a rectangular platform decorated with a spiraling pattern.
