In an effort to avoid turning the next fifty pieces into the treasure trove of two dragons rummaging through a temple, we shall avoid the obvious connection to the earlier tale and take this piece at face value. This tealight candle stand has a sturdy square base carved with wide Celtic knots. The candle rests in a fitted opening before a great cross, the entire design covered with intricately interlocking knots. A ring connects the four arms of the cross, also decorated with artful designs. And dominating the piece in the implacable grip of all four claws and its tail is a mighty dragon, a challengingly possessive look cast to the side as if it plans to do battle with some unseen foe over control of the statue.
