One of the most spectacular gemstones you can have on display is the Citrine Cathedral with its spectacular yellow golden crystals it stands out from all other gem stone crystal cathedral specimens. Citrine cathedral geodes are actually Amethyst geodes under extreme heat and pressure throw nature’s process takes millions of years to transform amethyst (purple crystals) into citrine (yellow gold crystals). Our collectors travel to Brazil to find the highest quality gemstone citrine cathedral specimens with the most colorful crystal formations.
Citrine is a type of macrocrystalline quartz (silicon dioxide) that is similar to amethyst in composition, but occurs less commonly in nature. Citrine has been discovered in siliceous volcanics, occurring as macroscopic crystals and druzy coverings inside of agate-lined cavities, often forming citrine cathedral geodes. Citrine also occurs in quartz veins. Citrine is one of the most valuable forms of quartz. Citrine is transparent to translucent and yellow to gold-brown in color with a vitreous luster. The name citrine is derived from the old French word for lemon, citrin.
In ancient times, citrine was carried as a protection against snake venom and evil thoughts. According to folklore citrine is believed to have healing properties and helps the heart, kidney, digestive tract, liver and muscles. Citrine attracts abundance and helps release cloudy thoughts, bringing joy and happiness while dispelling anxieties and fears. Citrine crystals help to feel the ability to go forth and helps with body healing. It is also the Planetary stone for the Sun Sign of Virgo and the accepted gem for the 13th and 17th wedding anniversary. The gemstone Citrine is the official birthstone for the month of November.
